There is more than one revetment these were shelters to protect the aircraft from enemy air attacks during WWII. They were made using sand and cement mix filled into sandbags and were allowed to set by moisture/precipitation, although trees have grown up in around these revetments they are still intact.

You might like to pause here for a while and imagine the hive of activity 60+ years ago, I shall never forget..........

I took a stroll over to the woods/revetments today a couple of guys were clearing the area near one of the revetments by felling trees they have come across a concrete base and it is hoped some more clearing will be undertaken

Just off the very busy Main A12 Trunk Road Roundabout [Jnct with A1214] is the Black Tiles pub which [when tea rooms] was visited by just about every famous Allied airmen, read some of the history here:
