Saturday, 13th. February, 1943, 1700hrs. Body of 0-885396 2nd. Lieut. Jap A. Powell aged 26, of the United States Army Air Force, of U.S.A.A.F. Station Saffron Walden Essex brought ashore at Felixstowe. Had bailed out of his Aircraft over the sea and was drowned about 1520hrs. the same day.

Interesting that in a twelve mile radius of Ipswich there were a few other landing fields mainly WWI that we don't often hear off, The Ipswich Transport Museum in Cobham Road has a small display of such memorabilia
