John - One day a visiting Harvard landed and taxied over to the Tower.  The pilot RT'd for a bod to go down to his aircraft while he went upstairs to conduct some business or other with F/Lt Cooper. I was the selected bod.  When I got down there, he told me he wanted me to sit in the aircraft and hold the stick back to stop it taxi-ing away as he didn't want to switch off the engine.  My moment of glory.  I was petrified - no stick had ever been held back harder.

You can almost imagine this P51 sitting in the hangar at MH in 1944, this one I took at Duxford on Wednesday being Ferocious Frankie
