Interesting photo Tarkey as directly beyond the CT is where the Air Raid Shelter now resides close to the old Nissen Huts. I also note on zoom, that there are several on the balcony perhaps awaiting returning aircraft

Great stuff, Tarkey; that's a really evocative piece of nostalgia.   I don't remember all the details but the fire truck is where it was in my time.   There used to be a Nissan hut to the right, near those two trucks, where we stored the paraffin and goose-neck flares and glim lamps.

Wing Commander Ken Wallis a frequent visitor to 'open days' at Martlesham Heath and holder of many world records for autogyro flying, he still flies at 95 years of age!!
