You may well laugh but who knows.

There are always ghost tales around an old airfield and Martlesham Heath is no different.

There are tales of an airman in an Irvine Jacket playing the fruit machines in the Police HQ canteen
I know of some one very recently when visiting the tower got a name and when checked out it matched the memorial list.

One of our deceased members who claimed to be psychic was adamant she had seen a ghost in the kitchen at the tower ( See later on )

we have had 2 official ghost hunt nights by groups. I have been on both of them. On the first nothing much happened except at one point in the same spot as mentioned above a thermometer reading went fro 15C to 0C in 15 seconds.
The second session was totally fruitless, despite sitting in the bunker at 2 am in the pitch black as well.

I haven't seen one [knowingly] but I do sometimes get that feeling of being in the prescence of those whose footsteps we follow. I have walked the old PeriTrack at Martlesham and visited 'behind the hangars' at Duxford and do have that presence.

It probably is my imagination I do not know, I know from others that they have seen an apparition in a Lancaster C0ckpit so I keep an open mind on such events but as yet I haven't seen one.......

As a longtime lover of all things history, I would =love= to see a ghost, but they seem to know I'm coming and take cover.

My wife, however, is very sensitive about this type of thing - which leads to merciless teasing from yours truly. She has has some bizarre experiences (arm hair-raising, ice-cold temperatures, terror) in Ireland at a few places which we later found out were 'haunted' Of course each time, I was standing right there and not a thing happened to me as I went blithely along...

Does the UK have television shows such as ours where 'Ghost Hunters' go round to places with scientific equipment to try to prove/disprove spirits' existence? Surely you do, because all of our television shows are remakes of yours. My wife is hooked on them.

Yes we have those people that try to rid places of poltergeists and the like Tommy, one such place that was haunted was Borley Rectory near Long Melford that was supposed to be Britains most haunted place, if I recall it got burned down.

My wife hada prescence in The Abbey Ruins at Bury St Edmunds once she didn't know there was a Lady in Grey that haunted the place she felt cold and clammy and couldn't wait to get out of the place

Like you it never happened to me but I then told my wife about 'The Lady' she never went back in.

I'm sure some of these old East Anglian Airfields feel spooky late at night......
