RAF Rougham/Bury St Edmunds

RAF Rougham was taken over by the USAAF almost as soon as it was completed, anyone with memories or photos, there is a memorial garden in the Abbey Gardens at nearby Bury St Edmunds with various  erected memorials

Sometimes this airfield was called both names, the USAAF operated out of here during WWII and there are some nice memorial gardens in the grounds of Bury Cathedral remembering those that never returned to base

A Stearman landing but I cannot help but wonder how much longer the airfield at Rougham will continue to exist regarding urban sprawl?

FG BSE Cathedral American AF seat in Rose Garden DSC_7278.jpg

Within the Abbey Gardens at Bury St Edmunds is this memorial seat made out of the wing of a B17 to those who served at Rougham and Lavenham
