17th May 1960 St Mawgan: MR3 Shackleton XF710 on Atomic Alert Exercise airborne for 7 hours 35 mins with 3 torpedoes, 9 Sonar buoys and 9 Depth Charges on board. We were on board in case of landing away from base.

1963 St Mawgan: Flew to RAF Aldergrove in Shackleton XF705 1 hour 45 minutes, should be at RAF Ballykelly but as Princess Margaret was about to present a new standard to a squadron, we had to stay at Aldergrove for 4 days, did not matter really as there was nothing to do!
