Wednesday, 21st. January, 1942, 1942. Plane approached Harwich Harbour, low from the West, and went into the sea to the S.W. A.A. gunfire and machine gun fire from ships and shore batteries. Heavy explosions as of H.E. bomb in the sea.
Wednesday, 21st. January, 1942 at 1947hrs. Plane flying along Felixstowe sea coast twards S.W. A.A. gunfire from defences, some H.E. bombs dropped in the sea. Believed Parachute Mine dropped in sea E. of Landguard and N. of Cork L. V. off Felixstowe. German plane went into the sea off Dovercourt after A.A. gunfire from defences.
Sunday, 26th. January 1941 1135Hrs. Landmine in defences on the foreshore near Fludyers Hotel, Undercliffe Road East, Exploded, damaging windows etc. at the Hotel.
Sunday, 26th. January, 1941 afternoon. German anti-mine sweeping float (Conical float) found washed up on the foreshore of the River Deben at Felixstowe Ferry.
Wednesday, 26th.January, 1944, about 1315Hrs. Thunderbolt Fighter Aircraft crash-landed at Church Farm, Waldringfield, Pilot unhurt.
Friday 31st. January 1941, 1005hrs. Plane flying low over Felixstowe sea front near Orford Rd. Machine-gunned soldiers working working in the area. Soldiers replied with Bren-gunfire.
Monday 31st, January 1944, about 0955hrs. No. 14418489 Rifleman Harold Eric Seeley, 8th. Battalion Middlesex Paratroops (Home address 85 King st. Felixstowe) seriously injured by explosion of British hand grenade which he picked up after it had been found on a field at Cowpasture Farm, Felixstowe.
Wednesday 31st. January 1945 at 1600hrs. American Liberator Bomber crashed at Tunstall. Plane badly damage. No crew with plane. Later ascertained the crew baled out safely in Cambridgeshire. Home Station Bungay.
Friday, 9th. February 1945 about 1030hrs. RAF Miles Martinet target-towing plane crash landed in a field at Hall Farm Kirton Crew of two uninjured. Pilot---F/O Merryfield, R.C.A.F. Home Station of plane was Bent'waters, Woodbridge.
Tuesday, 13th. February, 1945. 1615hrs. American Mustang fighter got into a spin, crashed and burst into flames on the mud flats in the river Orwell near Morston Hall Farm, Trimley St.Martin. Pilot--Lieut. Baskin, Killed. Home Station, Martlesham
