RAF Barnham

As an Air cadet in the 80's we used to got to RAF Barnham on weekend survival and night exercises.

There were RAF personel there but not many and it seemed mainly to be the place where many in the surrounding RAF stations parked their caravans! In factÂ I can only recall only ever seeing 3 in the guardroom and a couple milling about outside.

Prior to the 80's it was busy housing fuel and bomb dumps.

Have many great memories of being there.

The village of Barnham is being featured on the BBC Radio Suffolk Lesley Dolphin Afternoon Show tomorrow 20th May 2011 between 1230-1600hrs, I'm sure Lesley and Darren would like to hear about some of the 'nasties' once stored here at RAF Barnham, why not drop them a line

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Barnham Until yesterday I always thought that the Nuke Dump was on the Bury St Eds to Thetford road, I used to pass this many times and you could always see a lot of Centurion Tanks in the compound from the road but I was always intrigued by a site on the road between Barnham Village and where Centre Parcs is now located, the main entrance to RAF Barnham is, where it says A134 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.3695993,0.7257546,2814a,35y,38.78t/data=!3m1!1e3
