These pictures are taken inside Playford Hall and shows the airmaen relaxing.
I remember Bill Crump saying at one point you were in the thick of it over enemy land being shot at and a short time after you would be home in quiet surroundings.

They say its a small World. By an extraordinary coincidence the Guy who is overseeing this years Open Day at Martlesham ( 11th September ) and is an accomplished artist, had produced a couple of years ago a lovely sketch of a P51 called Mary Jane. The pilot is Jack Pidwell, none other than a close friend of Thomas Cook and is featured erlier in this thread in a painting with Akron Lady
