AVGAS was the Octane John that fuelled piston engined aircraft

AVTUR was the turbine fuel that provided the fuel for Jets [Gas turbines]

AVTAG was also used by jets

The Americans used JP4 [Jet, Petroleum] in their kites such as F86's, F100's etc

Are the fuel tanks located in the wood just west of the control tower? Can someone provide a Google Earth of Flashearth map link, please?

On the junction of the A1214 Road and Portal Avenue can be found these Offices now used by Suffolk Police, in 1960 [my time] this house was the living accomodation for the AOC-in-C 11 Group Fighter HQ
